History

Locally owned and operated by the Woodward family since 1976, The CaPTA Group incorporates the Rainforestation Nature Park and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda, Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas, Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome, Tropic Wings Coach Tours, Careers Training Centre (CTC), and Jungle Tours in Cairns.

Continuing its commitment to ensuring staff and the greater tourism industry as a whole have access to and partake of relevant, quality and flexible training, The CaPTA Group established the Careers Training Centre (CTC) in 2008. CTC was partnered with Career Training Institute of Australia (CTIA), until 2012 when CTC registered as an Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Formal training, along with practical on-the-job work experience, provides employees with a nationally recognised qualification in tourism, hospitality at a Certificate II to Diploma level, and Certificate III in Captive Animals.

Training and educational programs throughout the group (both internal and external) have been a priority since 2005 to improve the skill level of people employed in tourism, boosting our local economy as well as informing staff and those not familiar with the tourism industry of the career opportunities and pathways available in the industry itself.
